Master Any Start Technique in a Very Short Time

The beauty and magic of the PowerStartsTM Training SystemTM is that any technique can be taught and mastered by the swimmer in a very short period of time.  It is now possible to learn, practice and even master various techniques to determine which is best for each individual athlete after giving the technique a righteous effort. The results of the knock-down of times will then determine which technique should be used by the athlete.

We should see great improvements in the "knock down" of times for all swimmers, regardless of chosen technique.  Using the PowerStartsTM Training SystemTM, it is possible to determine which technique is the most efficient for the athlete instead of allowing the athlete to use the technique that felt the most comfortable.

Beware the Philosophy of Stagnation

"It feels comfortable!  I'm used to doing it this way!"
If we used the logic of letting the swimmer use the technique that got him/her here in all of our coaching instruction then we would have ... well, I was going to say, we would have athletes doing whatever felt good.  However, we would definitely have great improvements if the athlete knew for sure which technique is the most efficient for them after trying several different techniques.

"Don't change the bus!"
The logic from coaches that says "don't change the bus that got you here" is only a good statement only if you are completely satisfied with where you are.  If you are not, then you may need a more drastic change in your technique than incremental tweaks and refinements.

"There isn't time to waste on uncertainties."
The other problem is that the coach is not certain which technique would be the best to try. Again, it's true, there isn't time to waste on uncertainties. It would be more sensible to stick with what has worked in the past if you are using conventional ways of teaching new start techniques.

"There is no time to make changes now! Stick with what has worked so far!"
Another problem is there maybe other things that are more important than changing start techniques mid-stream. Again, it's true, it would be more sensible to stick with what has worked in the past if you are using conventional ways of teaching new start techniques.

Radical Improvement Can Only Come From Radical Thinking

The PowerStartsTM Training SystemTM provides the parameters for training swimmers to achieve significant knock-down of racing times.  With the use of an accurate timing system we will be able to back-out of the equation the amount of the time it takes for the swimmer to react and start the timing from the moment the swimmer's feet leaves the starting block.  The reaction time then will not be a part of the technique evaluation.  Since reaction times will vary from one swimmer to the next and even the same swimmer will not have the same reaction time for each attempt.

The PowerStartsTM Training SystemTM gives swimmers a defined angle of height, defined jumping distance, defined point of downward angle, the defined angle of entry.  It also can aid in the definition of body attitude.  Various starting techniques are quickly mastered with the aid of the PowerStartsTM Training SystemTM.
