PowerStarts and the Track Start

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is: "Is it okay to use a track-start position instead of the double-leg starting position?"

Our answer is always: "Let's see what you prefer after trying a quick vertical jump drill."

For some reason the majority of swimmers today are using the track-start position especially among girls.  The track-start position will get you to the water faster if that is your goal.  But if you have visited this site for very long you know that the secret to "powerful starts" is not who gets to the water first.

 Another PowerStarts Secret

The problem with a track start position is that the back leg wants to push the body forward rather than up. So this encourages the Leaning Tree syndrome.
